What Tolerances Does Precision CNC Machining Hold?

Dayao’s precision CNC machining holds ±0.01 mm as the standard tolerance and ±0.005 mm on critical features, measured on a CMM (coordinate measuring machine). For comparison, ISO 2768-m — the usual default when a drawing gives no tolerance — allows ±0.2 mm on a 6–30 mm dimension. Ask for ±0.005 mm only on the features that need it, because tighter tolerances need slower cutting and more measuring.

0102030405040302010 0.01 mm / DIV In the green · ±0.01 mm
The green zone is ±0.01 mm, Dayao’s standard tolerance. Every part has to land in it, part after part.
  1. 01

    Check the drawing

An engineer reviews every drawing and marks which sizes need ±0.01 mm or ±0.005 mm, and which can follow a general tolerance.

  2. 02

    Plan the job

The engineer picks the machine, the tools and the way the part is held, using a 5-axis center when features sit on many sides.

  3. 03

    Check the first part

The first part of each batch is measured before the rest are made, so one setup mistake does not become a hundred bad parts.

  4. 04

    Check during and after

IPQC checks parts while they are machined and OQC checks them again on the CMM before shipping, so a drift is caught before parts are packed.

Which Process?

Turning, Milling, 5-Axis or Sheet Metal: Which CNC Process Fits Your Part?

The right CNC process depends on the shape of the part. CNC turning suits round or threaded parts such as shafts and pins. CNC milling suits flat faces, pockets and holes. 5-axis machining suits complex parts with features on many sides. Sheet metal suits boxes, frames and brackets bent from flat sheet. Find your part type in the table: the blue dot marks the best process.

Prototypes, Small Batches or Contract Manufacturing: Which Order Size Fits?

Dayao has no fixed minimum order for machined and sheet metal parts, so you can start with one prototype. Choose CNC prototyping for a few test parts, low-volume manufacturing for a first small batch, and contract manufacturing when the design is final and you need the same parts again on a schedule. All three run on the same machines, and the lead time is confirmed in each quote.

Materials & Finishes

What Material and Finish Do Most CNC Machined Parts Use?

Most CNC machined parts start in aluminum 6061-T6, because it is light, machines quickly and takes anodizing well. Stainless steel 304 or 316 is chosen for food contact or outdoor rust resistance, brass or copper for electrical parts, and POM plastic for low-friction parts. The finish follows the material: anodizing for aluminum, brushing or polishing for stainless steel, and powder coating or plating for steel.

FAQ

CNC Machining Services FAQ

CNC machining services at Dayao start with no fixed minimum order, so one prototype is fine. Dayao holds ±0.01 mm as standard and ±0.005 mm on critical features, an engineer reviews every drawing before quoting, and the lead time is confirmed in each quote instead of a fixed promise. An NDA can be signed before you share files. The answers below cover services, accuracy, terms and finished products.

Q01

What CNC machining services do you offer?

Dayao offers CNC turning, CNC milling and 5-axis machining; sheet metal work (laser cutting, bending, stamping and welding); surface finishing; assembly and packaging; and prototypes, small batches or regular production — all from one factory in Dongguan, China.
Q02

What is the difference between low-volume and contract manufacturing?

Low-volume manufacturing is one small batch — for example, to test the market. Contract manufacturing is making the same parts again and again on a schedule. Want a finished product with your own brand? See product OEM/ODM.
Q03

How accurate is your precision CNC machining?

Dayao holds ±0.01 mm as the standard tolerance and ±0.005 mm on critical features, checked on a CMM (coordinate measuring machine). As a general reference only, ISO 2768-1 class m — the usual default when a drawing gives no tolerance — allows ±0.1 to ±0.3 mm on dimensions from 0.5 to 120 mm.
Q04

Is there a minimum order?

No. There is no fixed minimum order for machined and sheet metal parts, so you can start with a single prototype. 样品收费方式待核实
Q05

How long do quotes and production take?

An engineer reviews every drawing, so there are no instant or automatic quotes. Production time depends on the part, the material and the quantity. Your quote lists tooling, part price and lead time separately, so you know before you order.
Q06

Can you machine, make sheet metal parts and finish them in one order?

Yes. Machined parts, sheet metal parts and their finishes can share one quote, one order and one shipment. 表面处理厂内 / 外协 待核实
Q07

Do you sign an NDA before I send drawings?

Yes. Dayao can sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) before you send any drawings or 3D files.
Q08

Which payment and shipping terms do you accept?

Dayao accepts T/T, L/C, D/P and Western Union, and ships FOB, EXW, CIF or DDP as defined in Incoterms 2020 by the International Chamber of Commerce.
Q09

Do you also make finished products?

Yes. Dayao machines, assembles, tests and packs complete products — for example, its hand coffee grinder line assembles 2,000 units a day. See product OEM/ODM.
